International Medical Internships in China with Projects Abroad

Interning on a Medicine & Healthcare internship in China is an exciting experience. As a medicine or healthcare intern, you will gain a great deal of valuable work experience alongside some of the most skilled and inspirational doctors in the country. The facilities are generally to a high standard, on a par with many hospitals in the west.

Medical volunteers

Our interns work in Shanghai and Chengdu and shadow doctors in a number of different departments. At all of our medical placements in China there is a unique combination of western and traditional Chinese medicine.

The hospitals in Shanghai and Chengdu are large enough to enable interns to broaden their medicine and healthcare experience in different areas. While the facilities are modern, each city hospital has a department devoted to traditional medicine to run in conjunction with western medical practices in China. You may find that you want to concentrate your time in one area or simply learn about the interplay of both types and the holistic approach that is taken to medicine.

All Medicine & Healthcare interns in China must have completed at least two years of pre-medical or other healthcare related studies by the time they join this project.

Interns can join a Medicine or Medical Elective project in China for one or two weeks if you don't have time to join us for a month or more. Please be aware that the number of departments you can experience may be limited and you may not be able to make the same impact as someone interning for a longer period. Dentistry interns need to commit to at least one month.

Dentistry Internships in China

Volunteers

Interns who have experience in dentistry can work in one of the hospitals we work with in Shanghai or Chengdu. Our internships provide you with an opportunity to shadow local dentists, learning all about the practical aspects of the field in this developing country. Your supervisor will test your knowledge and will be prepared to answer any questions you have.

 

Medical Elective Internships in China

If you wish to do your Medical elective in China, you will most likely be working in a large training hospital in Shanghai or Chengdu. You will shadow one of our supervising doctors who all have high levels of English and are very experienced at working with western Medical students. They will be eager to test out your medical and healthcare knowledge, as well as give you the benefit of their training and experience. You are likely to work in close proximity to Chinese medical students who are always interested about medicine and life in general in the west.

Outside of the hospital, you will live with other volunteers and interns in a centrally located shared apartment or with a local host family. There is so much to explore and discover in Shanghai and Chengdu and the surrounding areas and our volunteer community is traditionally a lively and a varied one.
