Volunteer Abroad in Brazil as a Coach with Projects Abroad

Brazil is a country passionate about sports, first and foremost, soccer. Brazil has won the World Cup a record five times and in known by locals simply as “the soccer country.” Many Brazilian children live for soccer and it is by far the favorite pastime of youngsters found playing in the streets.

We recommend when doing a Sports project in Brazil you combine it with either a Care or Teaching project, as the sports activities are organized in the afternoons or early evenings. Please let us know which option you prefer when you apply.

Coach Soccer to Children with Projects Abroad

Projects Abroad works with two soccer placements. The first involves teaching sports, in particular soccer, at schools during PE lessons to a variety of classes and age groups. It is beneficial for volunteers to speak a basic level of Portuguese when working at this placement.

Coaching Soccer on the Beach in Brazil

Our second sports placement involves soccer lessons on a beach several afternoons/evenings a week. Volunteers will coach and play with children from disadvantaged backgrounds, offering an opportunity to develop pride and team skills, and most importantly giving them a chance to have some fun!

Our soccer projects in Brazil provide a chance for volunteers to help young players to develop their basic skills and techniques. By keeping the children interested in soccer volunteers help them to stay healthy and active and feel accepted.

Your Role Volunteering Abroad on a Sports Project in Brazil

When you get to Brazil, you will be introduced to the children and your supervisor. Don’t worry if you have little or no teaching or coaching experience. The staff here are dedicated to their programs and enjoy the help of volunteers, so will assist you in anyway they can.

As a foreigner, your very presence will help to make each sports lesson or training session fun, which is vital to maintaining the interest and enthusiasm of the children. Our sports placements in Brazil do not focus on competitive soccer. The focus is on creating a fun athletic experience.
